Lubuskie Laurels 2024 distributed
On Thursday, 27 February, the C. Norwid Provincial and City Public Library celebrated the awarding of the prestigious Lubuskie Wawrzyn 2024 competition. The ceremony honoured artists who distinguished themselves in three fields: literature, science and journalism. The event, organised by the region’s two largest libraries – in Zielona Góra and Gorzów – has become a permanent feature in the cultural calendar of the voivodeship.
The Lubuski Literary Laurel was awarded in both the prose and poetry categories. The winner in prose was Marcin Mielcarek for his book Jumper, published in Warsaw in 2024. In poetry, in turn, Bartosz Konopnicki was recognised for his volume ‘Zapisy promieniowania’.
The Lubuski Science Laurel (this is the 20th edition of this category) went to Grzegorz Urbanek for his publication ‘Bastion of Germanness in the new borderland. Powiat międzyrzecki w latach 1918-1939′, showing extensive archival research on the międzyrzecki region.
The Lubuski Journalism Laurel (11th edition) was awarded to Zbigniew Bork for a series of articles published in the Polityka weekly. The jury drew attention to the journalist’s commitment to socially relevant issues.
