Application of the REGA – BIBLIOGRAPHY module in libraries using the PROLIB system
Summary: The article demonstrates the application of the REGA module by libraries using the PROLIB system. The aim was to showcase the universality of the module and its various uses, both as a tool for creating regional bibliography, as well as thematic, specialized bibliography, bibliography of journal contents, and even for creating a biographical dictionary. The data in the article come from publicly available sources that refer to library websites. Additionally, links to WWW catalogs of bibliographic databases are provided.
Keywords: Bibliography, Databases, PROLIB
Bibliography (from Greek βιβλιο “book” + γραφία “writing”) is a term meaning, among other things, a list of documents organized according to certain criteria and fulfilling specific informational tasks. Such a list of various types of documents can be created in the PROLIB system in the REGA module. Both regional and multi-topic bibliographies are registered there. The module allows for the introduction of descriptions of various types of documents, linking them with formal and subject keywords (standard or local), sectional classification (a separate REGA module – Classification), and even items contained in the publication. In one module, multiple parallel bibliographic databases (so-called sub-bases) can be run, each can have a separate classification, presented on the www service within the WWW Catalog for bibliography or via the OAI-PMH protocol in the INTEGRO Catalog (along with the catalog base).
The REGA module is used in 32 prolib libraries, thus covering almost half of the area of Poland as a regional bibliography. It also contains a vast database of specialized knowledge from various scientific fields used as a thematic bibliography.
City, municipality, county, and province plans used as illustrations in the text were taken from Google Maps.

SUBJECT BIBLIOGRAPHIES
In addition to region-specific bibliographies that collect documentation and literature dedicated to the regions where the library operates, the REGA Bibliography module also allows for the creation of various types of subject bibliographies. Within a single module, due to the ability to assign specific bibliographies to so-called sub-databases, you can maintain multiple types of databases and card catalogs. While pedagogical libraries mainly use this module to create bibliographies that serve as card catalogs for pedagogical topics, other libraries use it for specific listings and thematic card catalogs.

The REGA Bibliography is one of the modules of the PROLIB system created by the company Sygnity Business Solutions S.A. It allows for the registration of bibliographic data along with domain classification and presentation on the WWW website. In one module (database), you can simultaneously store many different regional, field, and specialist bibliographies in separate sub-databases. A single bibliographic record can be used multiple times in any sub-database, additionally, it can have a local classification appropriate for a given sub-database. In addition, records can be copied from databases creating a catalog of bibliographic descriptions and linked with a cover, multimedia, or table of contents and links to the library catalog. Additional tools allow for professional printing of bibliographies using the LaTeX text layout system.
A map allowing a look at the distribution of libraries using the REGA module is available HERE.
